VECTOR ARTWORK REQUIREMENTS/Only use Spot Colors:

(For screen printing and Pad Printing)

  • General Guidelines: EPS vector art only, with all type converted to outlines/curves. Please call if you have only non-vector / bitmap files.
  • CorelDRAW 9.0 or lower and Adobe Illustrator 11.0 or lower – Mac or PC is acceptable. Convert all type fonts to outlines (Do not send fonts). Assign Pantone spot (coated) colors to all components. Do not place scans or bitmaps in file – vector art only.
  • Quark Files – must be re-saved as eps file (we do not accept quark files). Import / open Quark file into Adobe Illustrator, assign Pantone spot (coated) colors to all components (No CMYK colors), convert all type fonts to outlines, re-save and send as an Illustrator eps file. No scans or bitmaps can be part of the file -
    vector ar only.
  • OTHER Files – We generally do not accept files from any other programs for Spot Color Separations. Converting and color separating files in other formats such as Freehand, Pagemaker, Powerpoint, Word, Fax, will be quoted separately. Please click here to find out more information on this service.

Raster artwork / 4-COLOR PROCESS:

(for screen printing, Direct to garment printing, Print Media, Business Cards, Brochures, etc)

  • Adobe PhotoShop PSD, Jpeg (RGB) tif (CMYK), and Adobe Photoshop files
    are all acceptable.
  • The Resolution must be 300 dpi or higher at 100% (full size of print area). Normally type, solid lines & fill areas and specific reference colors are additional spot colors.
  • We will not accept low resolution artwork.

Page Layout Document:

  • To avoid any problems upload a press quality PDF (print as a PDF and us High quality)
  • In some cases Indesign color can change when saving into a PDF.
  • If you want to send the Indesign file follow these rules:
    • If you on a Mac outline you fonts because at this time we are PC based.
    • In addition to submitting the page layout documents, all vector and/or raster files that are referenced by the page layout document must also be included.
    • Include any fonts that were used in the production of the page layout document because our computer platform is PC.

    Acrobat (PDF) Files:

    • PDF files created from vector files must retain the editing capabilities of the program that was used to create them (e.g. Illustrator or Freehand).
    • PDF files that contain raster elements must meet the minimum requirements for raster art files as
      outlined above.
    • PDF files that contain vector elements must meet the minimum requirements for vector art files as
      outlined above.
    • PDF files created from page layout documents should be submitted together with the source documents, fonts and all supporting files.

    Embroidery Digitizing:

    • Why Promotions can create embroidery disks from any scans of original art, sketches and drawings.
    • Most digital files are suitable for digitizing an embroidery disk, as long as Why Promotions has the software to read the files.

    Proofs:

    • No matter what the format or transfer method, artwork should NEVER be submitted without either a hard copy proof or the electronic equivalent. Properly prepared PDF files are often suitable as proofs.

    Fonts:

    • Any fonts used in the production of art files should be converted to curves (outlines) prior to submission.
